The Minister of Infrastructure assured this Wednesday that the government has red lines in the TAP privatization process and stressed the role of legal and contractual arrangements to ensure buyer compliance.
João Galamba spoke at regimental hearings before the Commission for Economy, Public Works, Planning and Housing in Parliament, where he was heard about the general policy of the ministry and other current affairs.
The minister emphasized that one of the ways to maintain conditions in the process of TAR privatization is the terms of reference, but considered that this is “not the only” way and “often it is not enough.”
In response to BE MP Mariana Mortagua, who accused the government of not having red lines in relation to this process, Joao Galamba said that the executive branch has them.
“If those red lines, which, according to the deputy, we don’t have and have, are not respected, then there are legal and contractual mechanisms that allow us to resolve this situation and protect public interests,” he said.
On April 27, the Council of Ministers approved a resolution that empowers Parpública to contract with the independent appraisers necessary for TAP’s privatization.
The executive power intends to publish a decree-law in the summer, which will initiate the privatization of the TAR, the Minister of Infrastructure stressed.
This publication is followed by the adoption of a Ministerial Council resolution that will set out the modalities for the process and the terms of reference.
