This Wednesday, the Portuguese team lost 2-0 to host Georgia in the first leg of the European Under-21 Championship.
Georgian goals were scored by Giorgi Gagua in the 38th minute and Saba Sazonov in the 46th minute.
The team led by Rui Jorge tried to respond to Georgia’s goals, but to no avail. At the 76th minute, the task was complicated by the removal of defender Thomas Araujo.
In another group meeting, the game ended in a goalless draw, giving Belgium and the Netherlands one point more than Portugal.
Georgia, hosting the competition with Romania, leads the group with three points.
Portugal’s next game will be on Friday against the Netherlands. The last game of the group stage will take place on Tuesday against Belgium.
