The event takes place 10 days after the anniversary of the Pedrogan Grande tragedy and 12 days after the opening of the new memorial to the public without any official ceremony.
Costa “faked” Marcelo, who limited himself on the presidency’s website on Tuesday to stating that he had learned of the tribute through the media and that he would not be able to attend as he already had an agenda in Italy, but that he would visit the region in end of this month. The memorial to the victims of the 2017 fires is located on the edge of the EN236-1 highway, at the entrance to the village of Pobrays.
