PJ arrested a suspect in the arson of an establishment and a car in Vila Verde.

The Judicial Police (PJ) detained a young man suspected of setting fire to a business where he worked and a car belonging to his ex-girlfriend’s relatives in Vila Verde, Braga district, the forces announced this Friday.

The SP statement said that the facts took place from January to last Wednesday, when the 23-year-old suspect acted “under conditions of great emotional instability, for vain reasons and on purpose.”

According to the joint venture, at the beginning of the year he tried to start a fire in a commercial institution with which he had previously collaborated, but did not achieve his goal.

In addition, he entered the same establishment several times during the night, causing damage to street furniture, until he again caused a new fire on June 20, causing damage that reached “high values.”

“Earlier, acting for the same reasons, the defendant set fire to a car belonging to the relatives of an ex-girlfriend, which led to its complete destruction with the possibility of spreading to the entire building,” the report says.

The SP says the fires “were detected by neighbors and offended people at an early stage, which prevented them from spreading and causing more damage.”

The suspect is charged with three arson of buildings, one arson of vehicles and several crimes of damage.

He will be present in court for judicial interrogation and application of coercive measures.
