This Wednesday, the PS asked the opposition parties to “take their time” with reading the preliminary report of the commission of inquiry of the TAR and will consider the proposals submitted to change the text.
“This is a precaution that we ask all parties to take, above all so that they do not rush into a quick reading of the report received at midnight, which is 200 pages long and which certainly deserves more detailed information than a general and abstract idea of it may have,” argued the Socialist MP Bruno Aragao.
PS Coordinator of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on the Political Protection of the TAP leadership spoke to journalists in Parliament after the press conference, presenting a preliminary version of the report prepared by PS MP Anna Paula Bernardo.
By the end of the deadline for submitting proposals for amendments to the preliminary report, on which MPs have yet to vote, the PS will analyze the text and decide whether to propose amendments or not.
The socialist defended that “a phase of political interpretation is entering which often clouds the way in which facts are analyzed”, believing that “he is trying to impose” the idea that “there are no facts against arguments”.
“And therefore, regardless of the stated fact, the answers that are brought to this commission of inquiry, the documentary base confirming or not confirming these answers, if each of us supports the arguments of the initial stage of the commission of inquiry, a little, it will be worth the effort that we have made for these weeks,” he said.
Bruno Aragao was asked about the criticism of some parties over the fact that certain hearings and events are not included in the preliminary report, and he replied that “defining the purpose of this commission is central, as it is central to the discussion of TAP’s political tutelage and it is neither in does not mean in any case that other events that were relevant to the case and were also subjected to careful scrutiny of public opinion should not be clarified in the proper instances.
Regarding the events on the night of April 26 at the Ministry of Infrastructure, Bruno Aragao said that “an investigation is being carried out in the State Ministry, which will have to find out what happened, an investigation that will be carried out independently of the work of this parliamentary committee.”
On the disclosure of the “secrets” on the seizure of a computer from the ministry by the former deputy of Joao Galamba, Frederico Pinheiro, the socialist recalled that there were hearings in the commission on constitutional issues, rights, freedoms and guarantees, adding that at the preparatory meeting on listening to the former TAR director general with the parliamentary PS group and members of ministerial staffs, the Commission on Transparency and the Statute of Deputies also “gave an opinion”.
“And, therefore, there is no attempt here not to discuss each of these issues, there is a copy,” he insisted.
Bruno Aragao argued that “sometimes there is interest” from other parties to discuss these issues “because it reduces the space” for a debate about “what is really important, ie TAP”.
“And this is a much more complex discussion,” he said.
