Civil Protection prepares the relocation of young people after a house fire in Vila Real

According to the councilor in charge, the municipal civil protection service of Sabrosa is preparing the relocation of two young people who managed this Friday to leave the house where their mother and grandparents died in a fire.

Sabrosa’s civil protection adviser, Antonio Araujo, told Lusa’s agency that municipal services had been monitoring the situation since the beginning, namely two young people, aged 16 and 20, who managed to escape the house and signaled the fire. . . .

The official said that two young people reported that they left the house through the window.

Three fatal victims were found in the house, namely the mother of two boys, aged 56, and their grandparents, aged 74 and 80.

“We immediately activated the social action services that arrived at the scene to provide psychological support to these young people and other family members who arrived in the meantime,” Antonio Araujo said.

According to the official, psychologists from the municipality were mobilized, as well as from the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (INEM) and even representatives of the Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth (CPCJ).

“Currently, we are preparing the relocation of the minor and his brother, and we are monitoring all direct family members. This family is all broken,” the official stressed.

Civil Protection, according to the adviser, is considering options for relocating young people.

The causes of the fire will be investigated by members of the Judicial Police (SP) of Vila Real, who were called to the scene.

“The authorities are investigating. According to the information that we collect on the spot, there is a suspicion that the heating system, it is not known which one, became the cause of the fire,” António Araujo said.

With the cold weather approaching and the need to heat homes, the adviser urged people to be “extremely careful”, especially in older houses and where there are more combustible materials and when using heating systems that can emit carbon dioxide and toxic substances. gases that can cause a fire.

“We urge people to be extremely careful. The cold has come into force, people need to warm up, but extreme caution must be exercised, and we urge people to ensure that this concern is constant,” António Araujo stressed.

The fire alarm for a house located in the center of the village of Sabrosa was raised at 05:00, and firefighters, PNR, SP, INEM and civil protection units were mobilized to the spot.
