An elderly woman, 72, was arrested on Tuesday evening on suspicion of turning off a roommate’s fan twice in a hospital in Mannheim, Germany, because she was disturbed by the sound of the device. The victim, 79 years old, had to be resuscitated and needs care.
According to the communiqué press release issued by the public prosecutor’s office and the police in Mannheim, quoted by the newspaper The keeper, the woman turned off the fan before 8 p.m., feeling “alarmed by the noise coming from the oxygen device”. Despite being told it was a patient’s life support system, the elderly woman turned off the device again around 9 p.m.
A woman suspected of attempted murder appeared in court on Wednesday and has been jailed while the investigation continues.
