Last Sunday, a man was arrested for killing his wife, eating her brain and using her skull as an ashtray in the city of Pueblano, Mexico. Alvaro, 32, allegedly used a banned substance and was detained by police in the house where he lived with his partner.
During interrogation, the “cannibal of Puebla”, as he was identified, told the police that Our Lady of the Holy Death and the devil had prompted him to commit the crime.
After the murder of 38-year-old Maria Montiel, the suspect placed the remains in plastic bags, leaving part of the corpse indoors and throwing the other into a ravine. According to a source close to the victim, two days later Alvaro called one of the stepdaughters and confessed to the crime.
Maria Alicia Serran, the victim’s mother, told local media that Alvaro cut her daughter’s body with a knife and hammer and told her that “she was not suffering.”
The victim married the suspect less than a year ago. He had five daughters ranging in age from 12 to 23. According to the victim’s mother, quoted by daily mail, the two youngest daughters still lived with the couple and both suffered abuse and sexual harassment at the hands of Alvaro. “He spied on them while they were swimming and my daughter was always by his side out of love,” he added.
The victim’s family reported that the couple worshiped Nossa Senhora da Santa Morte and that the police discovered a black magic altar in the house where they lived.
