The Regional Secretariat for Education, Science and Technology and the Organizing Committee of the Diocese of Madeira signed on Tuesday a contract program to pay for the travel of young people from Madeira and Porto Santo who want to participate in World Youth Day (WYD). which takes place in Lisbon from 1 to 6 August.
“Financial support under this contractual program allows you to support up to a limit of 850 young people, by providing a financial contribution in the total amount of 73,100 euros (seventy-three thousand one hundred euros) for the purpose of individual assistance in the amount of 86 euros for each young person,” the information says. sent by the Department of Education.
Support is given to young people aged 14 to 30 who participate in the World Youth Day and appear on the list sent by the Diocese of Funchal.
The financial contribution will be processed in two parts, with up to 70% of the total amount of financial support provided after the signing of the program contract and 30% after the submission of the final performance report after the event.
Lisbon has been chosen by Pope Francis for the next World Youth Day, which will take place from 1 to 6 August this year, with the main ceremonies taking place in the Eduardo VII Park and Tagus Park, north of the Park. das Nações, on the banks of the Tagus River, on land in the municipalities of Lisbon and Loures.
WYD was born at the initiative of Pope John Paul II after the success of the meeting organized in 1985 in Rome as part of the International Year of Youth.
