The fire broke out in a wooded area in Espineira, Cadaval this Wednesday afternoon, three kilometers in a straight line from last week’s fire.
A week ago, another fire destroyed 40 hectares of forest and eucalyptus in Serra do Montejunto, in the Cercal region, and involved about two hundred firefighters and seven aircraft. The helicopter was supposed to land on EN1.
346 firefighters are engaged in extinguishing the fire, supported by 95 vehicles and 10 aircraft. The fire has an active front that firefighters are trying to control, but the wind makes it difficult to fight the flames, the same source said. The alarm was filed at 13:51.
