Fran Navarro, so far Porto’s only signing for the new season, already had the opportunity to showcase his work on Wednesday.
Sergio Conceição, who opened the doors before the start of the pre-season last Friday, started with a very alternate eleven-man line-up that was composed as follows: Samuel Portugal; Dinis Rodriguez, Joao Marcelo, David Carmo and Wendell; Abraham Marcus, Rodrigo Fernandes, Wendel Silva and Rui Monteiro; Gonzalo Borges and Fran Navarro. Also played were Claudio Ramos, Francisco Meixedo, Fabio Cardoso, Joao Mendez, Romario Baro, Pepe, Galeno, Andre Franco, Namaso, Vasco Sousa and Tony Martinez.
Basically, Conceição wanted to see in action, in a more competitive environment, some of the players he could choose to join the team.
The Spanish striker, who came from Gil Vicente, scored one of the goals in the Blue-and-White’s 4-0 victory over Academica in a practice match held behind closed doors at the Centro de Treinos do Olival. The remaining goals were scored by Wendel Silva, Goncalo Borges and Namaso.
