The body of a baby found without a head on the Costa Dorada beach in Catalonia this Monday belongs to a six-month-old girl. The results of the autopsy contradicted those published earlier, which said that this was the corpse of a child about two years old.
According to the Spanish newspaper El Independiente, in the conclusion of the forensic medical examination it is explained that the girl was a victim of a shipwreck.
As part of the investigation, several body samples were sent to the Civil Guard Criminal Service for scientific research, which may provide more details about the cause of death. The authorities’ current thesis is that the child fell out of the migrant boat and was eventually swept away by the current.
Around 8:00 am local time, the body of a girl was noticed by a municipal employee who was cleaning this beach. The body was in the process of decomposition.
