This Saturday, President Chega accused the SDP and the PS of colluding to “condition justice,” citing criticism by Rui Rio and socialist elements of the raids carried out on the SDP’s homes and headquarters.
“What we are seeing is collusion between the SDP and the PS to condition justice. That is, when the interests of officials, advisers and members of parliamentary groups are affected, we rush to change the law in order to stop any investigation. or by sending a letter to the Attorney General [da República]” Andre Ventura said.
At a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Lisbon, Chega’s leader expressed concern over Rui Rio’s words about the investigation by the Ministry of State (MP) into the use of funds intended for the parliamentary group to pay party officials between 2018 and 2022 year. .
“Everyone says they want more investigations, more effective justice and more action, but when it comes to PSD or PS, there is a huge threat that the law will be revised or judicial activity will be conditioned,” Ventura stressed.
For leader Chega, “these considerations are not bold or daring” and “reflect the worst that the Portuguese sense of impunity can have: the idea that justice should have more means to investigate all crimes, less those that influence politicians.”
