Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaras, world leader, won Wimbledon for the first time this Sunday, beating Serb Novak Djokovic, number two in the pecking order, in a match decided in five sets.

Alcaraz, 20, beat the Serb, who has already won seven times on London grass, including the last four tournaments, 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1, 3-6. and 6-4 in a meeting that lasted four hours and 46 minutes.

The Spanish player, who will remain at the top of the ATP rankings, has achieved his second Grand Slam triumph of his career after winning the US Open in 2022, and Djokovic remains the record holder with 23 Majors.

Alcaraz, who received the trophy from Princess Kate – under the watchful eye of the Spanish King Philip VI – becomes one of the youngest winners of the English tournament.
