The President of the PS believes this Friday that the parliamentary debate on the state of the nation showed that the situation in Portugal is “much better” than that in which the opposition found itself, highlighting the “social and economic recovery”.
“The only thing I can say about the situation we are going through is that, despite the polls and despite the social difficulties that still persist among families in our country, the debate that took place just yesterday in Parliament showed, in fact, that the position of the nation is much better than that of the opposition,” he said on the sidelines of a visit to the World Youth Day headquarters in Lisbon.
Carlos Cesar noted that during this debate, which took place on Thursday in the Assembly of the Republic, “the Prime Minister spoke about the right accounts, as he spoke about the whole situation, as well as good results in reducing poverty and social exclusion, reducing inequality, increasing the average disposable income of families, etc.”
“It is necessary to be aware of the situation in which we live, that is, there are many good indicators, there is growth and socio-economic recovery of our country, which is still living with problems, uncertainties, injustice and difficulties of many families,” he emphasized, defending that “it is important that the government continues to successfully achieve better and better results, and that it has fewer cases and accidents.”
Asked about today’s afternoon meeting of the State Council (the body that it brings together) to assess the economic, social and political situation in the country, the PS President noted that he could not speak “about what will happen, or what happened later, in the State Council.”
