The consensus principle for the social sector has stalled because the government’s increased funding of institutions implies a 5.1% increase in wages, which prompted the institutions to demand a review of the conditions and submit a joint proposal.
Speaking to the Lusa agency, the President of União das Mutualidades Portuguesas said that, in addition to the principle of agreement presented by the Minister of Labor, Solidarity and Social Security, Anna Méndez Godinho, to partners from the social sector, that the strengthening of funds for the social sector implies a 5.1% increase in wages for employees of these institutions, as agreed in the Social Dialogue.
Since this was not initially defined in the principle of the agreement, Luis Alberto de Sá e Silva acknowledged that the social partners understood that they should return to the negotiating table.
