Traffic on the Northern Line resumed after a fatal accident.

Train traffic on the Northern Line, near Povoa de Santa Iria station, resumed at 8:05 a.m. after it was temporarily suspended following a fatal train collision, according to CP.

A source from CP-Comboios de Portugal told Lusa that the situation returned to normal at 8:05 a.m. with “little delays in handling, not very significant”.

One person died this Thursday after being hit by a car at the train station in Povoa de Santa Iria, in the municipality of Vila Franca de Xira, Lisbon, where train traffic was temporarily suspended, according to civil protection.

A source from the Sub-Regional Command of Greater Lisbon told Lusa that the collision warning, which occurred near Povoa de Santa Iria station in the south/north direction, was issued at 6:48 am.

10 operatives from the Povoa de Santa Iria Fire Department, the Public Security Police (PSP) and the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (INEM) were present, supported by five vehicles.
