This Monday, the government decided to introduce a one-off tolerance for public service workers in the state on December 23rd and 30th next year. The order has already been signed by Prime Minister Antonio Costa.
According to a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office, the measure was taken “considering that many people traditionally travel outside their place of residence during the Christmas and New Year period for family reunions; given the practice that has developed been observed over the years; Given the existing tradition regarding the admission of points, at present, in non-essential public services, admission points are granted to employees who perform public functions in direct government services, whether central or decentralized, and in public institutions on December 23 and 30, 2022.”
This new decision does not apply to services and bodies that, due to matters of public interest, must continue to perform their functions during these days.
