The data comes from research company Marktest and confirms the impact of the media initiative that brought Pope Francis to Portugal for the second time. Various TV channels devoted more than 532 hours of programs to WYD, broadcasting a total of 7373 news (this volume is second only to online media, which published 8391 news). 2422 materials were revealed on the radio, and 1240 messages in the republican press. Among radio stations, Antena 1 was the station that devoted the most time to the topic, with 748 news items and 54 hours of broadcast time.
When analyzing the evolution of news published during the week, one can also see that the first two days of Pope Francis’ stay in Portugal were the ones that caused the most news. On the 2nd there were 3,373. On the 3rd, they reached 3,442. During this period, broadcast time on radio and television also increased. Each day had over 112 hours.
