Australia announces purchase of 260 US-made long-range missiles

On Monday, the Australian government announced the purchase of 260 US-made long-range missiles to boost defense capability amid tensions in the Indo-Pacific region.

“We are investing in the capabilities our defense forces need to keep our adversaries off our shores and keep Australians safe in the complex and volatile world we live in,” Defense Secretary Richard Marles said.

The Department of Defense said the A$1.7 billion (€1 billion) deal is for more than 200 Tomahawk cruise missiles and more than 60 advanced long-range anti-radar guided missiles.
