Almost six thousand students enrolled in the first stage received a scholarship

Nearly 6,000 students in the first round of the National Competition for Access to Higher Education will receive scholarships, the government announced on Monday, noting that the scholarships will be paid out in September.

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education said in a statement that the 5,862 students who passed the first stage of the competition, the results of which were published on Sunday, have already been informed that they will receive a scholarship during the 2023/2024 academic year. .

Support provided to students receiving family benefits up to the third level will be paid in September.

“This year, for the first time, decisions were put forward on applications for scholarships for the stage of employment of candidates for higher education. This measure very relevantly involves the allocation and payment of scholarships,” he writes in guardianship.

+Superior Scholarships will also be announced shortly to support student retention at institutions located in the interior of the country.

This year, the government has expanded the eligibility threshold, increased the maximum scholarship amount, as well as the year-over-year living allowance paid to scholarship students who cannot find a room in university residences, on top of the increase in the average price of private housing.

In the same statement, the government guarantees that “it will continue to monitor the development of the housing situation for students in higher education, with the opportunity to increase support to alleviate the difficulties of students and families with access to affordable housing.”

Nearly 50,000 students were enrolled in the first round of the National Competition for Access to Higher Education, slightly lower than last year but representing 84% participation.

Of the 59,073 students currently applying for higher education, 49,438 have been enrolled, down 0.7% from the same phase of the competition held last year, with 16% of applicants left out and will now be able to participate in the second round of the competition. , about five thousand jobs.
