Chegi’s leader began by accusing the prime minister of expressing “arrogance and arrogance in a completely totalitarian stance” in an interview.
“The whole interview is designed to show that he is the one who decides, he is the one who is responsible, not even respecting the President of the Republic, saying that he will remain in office for another four years and that they should get used to it. to him,” he said, recalling that part of the powers of the head of state is the dissolution of the Assembly of the Republic, if the normal functioning of institutions is at stake.

As for the debate model, Chega understands that the current question/answer format should be kept, and not what PS proposes with no answer.
“This is the ideal model for PS where you don’t have to answer specific questions. Do we want the Prime Minister to come here with a prepared speech? (…) These are not debates, they will be rallies with the prime minister, the ones we have on television are enough,” he said.
The centerpiece of this process of revising the Rules of Procedure is the revision of the models of parliamentary debates with the Prime Minister, with proposals from all benches, by majority vote, to restore the two weeks of discussions that ended in 2020 by agreement between PS and PSD. , then led by Rui Rio.
With the exception of PS and PCP, all other parties, including the PSD (of which Luis Montenegro is now president), are submitting proposals to replace the two-week debate with the prime minister.
The PS, which has an absolute majority in Parliament, proposes to hold monthly debates with the Prime Minister and intends to end the current question-and-answer model by establishing that “at the end of the period of intervention by each party, the government’s response must be immediate.” , a change contested by PSD.
