A fire in an old non-residential building in Quintas, in the municipality of Ourén, has led to the discovery of a complex cannabis plantation where GNR has collected 156 plants in various stages of maturation.
A fire broke out on the lower floor of the house on Tuesday morning, and upon the arrival of Orem volunteer firefighters, the entire building was engulfed in flames.
Only after the fire was extinguished, when the firefighters entered the fire zone, the stove was discovered and the alarm was immediately raised to the GNR patrol, which ensured the safety of the operation.
Some of the plants were burned, but most were removed from the pots and collected by the NDP, which is investigating who owns the plantations and what their involvement in the drug trade is.
The house was bought a year ago by a foreign woman with an address in Belgium and will be rented out to a man who spends almost every day there. The cause of the fire could be a short circuit caused by overheating of the oven’s electrical system.
