An urgent parliamentary debate requested by Chega over “suspicions of corruption in the Ministry of National Defense” has been scheduled for next Tuesday, as decided by a meeting of leaders this Wednesday.
Chega announced on Tuesday that she had asked for an urgent discussion of investigations involving the Ministry of Defense to hear from Joao Gomes Cravinho, the former defense minister and current foreign minister, to explain to parliament.
Last week, the Judicial Police, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, launched the “Perfect Storm” operation, which resulted in the arrest of five people, including three high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense and two businessmen, out of 19 accused, in relation to the period in which Joao Gomes Cravinho led this ministry.
