In the Azores, the man who killed, dismembered and burned corpses has not yet been tried. The victims have not yet been buried

The brutal murders of Mario Sobral, a former Air Force colonel, and his friend Mario Kouscelos, committed by German Tomislav Jozic on the island of Pico, Azores, ended exactly one year ago last Sunday.

The confessed killer who shot, dismembered and burned the bodies has yet to stand trial, and the families of the two victims have yet to hold any funerals.

ABOUT CM found that the reason for the delay in the funeral was that the prosecutor’s office had not yet issued documentation of the funeral without bodies.

Besides the ashes and other biological remains, the medico-legal office on Pico Island holds only Mario Sobral’s pacemaker, awaiting funeral orders.

However, the trial of Tomislav Jozic and his wife has not yet been scheduled in the district of São Roque do Pico. If the investigation does not begin before March 19, 2024, the German will have to be released due to excessive detention.
