The Parliamentary Health Committee approved Chegi’s request to hear the Minister on SNS

The parliamentary committee on health approved this Wednesday the request of the Chega party to hold a hearing with Health Minister Manuel Pizarro regarding the National Health Service (SNS), the president of the parliamentary committee told the Lusa news agency.

Members of the health committee analyzed and voted on another request from Chegi at a hearing with the health minister “on the contract awarded for the development of the communication strategy of the Executive Directorate of the National Health Service,” which was rejected by the PS, said António Malo of Abreu.

The request submitted by the BE for an urgent hearing of the cases of women who resigned from the obstetric service of the Central Hospital University of Lisbon Norte (CHULN), the board of directors of the hospital center, which includes the Santa Maria Hospital, and the Minister of Health were also rejected by the PS on the dismissal of several specialist doctors obstetrics due to deteriorating working and care conditions.”

PCP request for an urgent hearing of the Minister, the National Federation of Doctors, the Portuguese Nurses Union and the former director of the obstetric service at the Santa Maria Hospital “regarding the departure of specialists from the obstetrics and gynecology service at the Santa Maria Hospital and the consequences for pregnant women in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley region ” was also vetoed by PS.

According to Malo de Abreu, the Socialist Party also rejected the request of the Liberal Initiative (IL) for an urgent hearing of the case of Manuel Pizarro, “to provide all the explanations regarding the lack of access of pregnant women to obstetric ultrasounds in the SNS, the terms of the contract agreements for these ultrasounds with the private sector and measures taken by the government.”
