The PS parliamentary group presented a motion to protect the government’s exclusive support to counter the effects of inflation and prevent them from being captured.
As reported this Wednesday by Público and Negócios, it is a support of 125 euros per person with an income of up to 2,700 euros gross, 50 euros for each dependent and an exclusive supplement for pensioners in the amount of half the pension received in 2022 for all those who have pensions up to 12 times the value of the social support index.
Quoting Socialist MP Miguel Cabrita, Público writes that the goal of the PS is to secure “the full support of the people”.
This exclusive protective support regime also extends to families with attachments to “protect the position of the most socially disadvantaged,” the deputy explains.
It also says that the amendment proposed by the PS Parliamentary Group goes “outside the existing legal regime” that protects people subject to arrest, as it makes that support impossible.
Negosios explains that the regulation of the measures, published earlier this month, provided that only the support of 125 and 50 euros is protected from investments and only from the tax authorities or social security, without preventing the amounts from being blocked due to debts to others. creditors or blocking pension supplements.
The Socialists will submit two more proposals to change government laws to mitigate the effects of inflation, one of which restores a measure applied during the pandemic that allowed reimbursement for PPR, PPE and PPR/E due to lockdown with impunity. , family assistance, “layoff”, unemployment or reduced economic activity of the self-employed, as well as deferral of rent payments.
The other, according to the Público newspaper, ensures that “the tax credit included in the emergency rental support does not benefit landlords who, having agreed to a rent renewal rule other than the supplementary legal regime, update in 2023 the value of the rent to be collected. percentage higher than the renewal rate”, which was limited by the government to a ceiling of 2%.
