Parliament will discuss the state budget as a whole on October 30 and 31.

Parliament as a whole will discuss the draft state budget on October 30 and 31, a conference of leaders decided this Wednesday, which scheduled a discussion on the extension of zero VAT for October 13.

This was stated by the press secretary of the leadership conference, socialist Maria da Luz Rocinha, in an address to journalists at the Assembly of the Republic.

In addition to the general debates on October 30 and 31, BE parliament leader Pedro Filipe Soares told reporters that according to the indicative calendar, which has not yet been approved, budget discussions should begin on October 26 with a committee hearing by Finance Minister Fernando Medina.

According to the same preliminary calendar, the final global vote on the State Budget should take place on November 29, the deputy said.

Regarding the remaining schedules for October, Maria da Luz Rocinha noted that the leadership conference decided that there would be no plenary meeting on the 6th, which would take place on the 3rd.

On this day, Parliament will discuss the PSD bill on the transitional regime for the regulation of headquarters buildings and similar buildings of non-profit associations, the Cega diploma on the removal of public housing equipment and the proposed law from the Autonomous Region of the Azores to increase the risk allowance for the security forces.

On the 4th, two government proposals for legislation will be discussed – one relating to maritime space and the other on motor vehicle inspectors – in addition to the BE Bill on mobile phones in schools and the PS draft regulation on the relocation of public administrative offices. services.

Policy announcements are scheduled next week on October 11th, and two IL bills will be debated on the 12th: one on electric vehicles and the other on the cost of complaint book sheets.

The Livre Suicide Prevention Bill will also be discussed on the day, as well as a petition to reduce the use of asbestos and another petition on nurses, careers and legislation.

Speaking to reporters in parliament, Livre’s sole deputy, Rui Tavares, stressed that the debate on suicide prevention would be his party’s “first agenda” in this legislature, “made possible by the revision of the Standing Orders of Parliament.”

Proposed legislation aimed at extending zero VAT on a basket of essential goods will be debated on October 13, with the government’s proposal for a citizenship law also planned.

On the same day, a draft resolution of the PKP will also be discussed, proposing to increase the national minimum wage to 910 euros in 2024, and a public appeal for the protection of the specialty of general medicine.
