The Ministry of Agriculture and Food announced this Monday that support of 25 thousand euros will be provided to beekeepers who saw their apiaries damaged in any way by the fires that occurred in May and early August in the municipalities of Aljezur. , Monchique and Odemira.
According to the Ministry, the request for support must be submitted within a maximum of 30 working days from the date of publication of this regulatory order to the Regional Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries (DRAF).
Its approval is subject to administrative review, and payment is preceded by an on-site audit of losses incurred by the DRAP.
“In addition to the feeding of cattle, sheep and goats affected by the destruction of the pastures used to feed them, the above-mentioned fires also jeopardized the feeding of bees on beekeeping farms whose apiaries are located near the burned area, depriving the bees of the natural food they were provided by these territory,” the statement said.
