The PAN representative for the Madeira region, Joaquim Souza, called this Thursday for the resignation of the party’s national representative, Ines de Suuza Real, due to “legal violations” and for participation in an attempt to impose conditions on the Regional Political Commission.
“I ask that Dr. Ines de Souza Real be removed from the Standing Political Committee. [do PAN]because he does not have the political, ethical or personal conditions to continue to represent a party based on empathy, seriousness, anti-corruption, honesty and not nepotism,” Joaquim Sousa said in an interview with Lusa.
The PAN/Madeira spokesman said he would present Ines de Souza Real’s resignation at a meeting scheduled for this evening, where he would be heard by the PAN leadership, which proposed his immediate suspension and expulsion from the party.
“At this meeting, I will ask for the opening of an investigation with the aim of expelling Dr. Ines de Souza Real for all the harm she has caused to the PAN and, above all, for participating in the attempt, subject to the creation of a political commission such as the Regional Political Commission of Madeira,” noted Joaquim Souza.
Regarding the PAN leadership’s proposal to expel her from the party, the PAN/Madeira representative accused Ines de Souza Real of “legal violations”, namely choosing the list of candidates for regional elections and depriving her of access to email. and PAN social networks.
“Joaquim Sousa asked to vote on the list of candidates for the regional elections, and Ines de Sousa Real told the national political commissioners that Joaquim Sousa did not ask to be heard, which is a lie. […] Ines Souza Real told the national political commissioners that she was going to call Joaquim Souza, but until this Thursday she never called,” said the President of the Regional Political Commission of PAN/Madeira.
Regarding the accusations by the leadership of the PAN that he “publicly called for the refusal of the vote in his party and even negotiated and negotiated with other political forces”, Joaquim Sousa rejected all these criticisms, which are cited as justification for his expulsion from the party.
“Joaquim Sousa could participate, if he wanted, in the elections, because he was invited by other parties, and no, because Joaquim Sousa does not say here that he is going to the right or to the left. Joaquim Souza is a PAN member because he wants to be a PAN militant. Don’t walk here like a yo-yo: now to the right, now to the left, as I see fit,” he said.
Stating that PAN has always been the opposition party in Madeira, the regional representative criticized the position of the party leadership: “Decide simply, because there is a bag of lupines to get, turn your beak to your fingernail and deny what PAN has been saying in recent years. Why? Because she wants to be in the game.”
“Joaquim Souza does not do this, nor does he hush up the legislative violations committed by Ines de Souza Real herself,” he emphasized.
Regarding voting in the regional elections, Joaquim Sousa guaranteed that he is not calling for voting for any party, only stating that he “does not intend to vote for PAN.”
“What Joaquim Souza did was to write an opinion piece in which he explained why he did not vote for PAN,” said a PAN/Madeira representative, criticizing the choice of the list of candidates for the regional elections: “What Dr. Ines de Souza Real wanted was to there was someone pliable in the regional parliament of Madeira.”
Referring to the head of the PAN list for the Madeira elections, Monica Freitas, who was the only elected member of the party, Joaquim Sousa accused her of being a “self-appointed president of PAN/Madeira” because she did not have support at the regional level. voice at a meeting with a representative of the republic.
On Wednesday, the PAN/Madeira spokesman admitted that he would resign from his position if national representative Ines Sousa Real did not recognize the illegality of the parliamentary protection agreement signed with the PSD/CDU-PP coalition, which won regional elections without an absolute majority.
That night, the National Political Commission of the PAN approved by a “majority vote” the ratification of the agreement on parliamentary influence between the party and the PSD in Madeira.
Without moving to announce his resignation, Joaquim Machado is awaiting the results of Thursday night’s meeting on a proposal to expel him from the party.
The coalition formed by the PSD and SDS-PP won regional elections in Madeira on Sunday with 43.13% of the vote but failed to achieve an absolute majority, electing 23 of 47 deputies.
According to the official preliminary results of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of the Interior, the PS elected 11 deputies, the AKP five and Cega four, while the CDU (PCP/PEV), BE, PAN and IL elected one deputy each.
Following the results of the elections, the regional deputy elected by the PAN, Monica Freitas, and the president of the PSD/Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, entered into an agreement on parliamentary influence on the legislature.
