Feijoo failed his investment for the second time

Alberto Nunez Feijoo, leader of the Spanish People’s Party (PP), failed to win a seat in the Spanish parliament for the second time. The Spaniard failed to obtain the necessary majority to become Prime Minister of Spain. He received 177 votes against out of 350 deputies.

The plenary confirmed the results of the first vote on Wednesday, with 178 votes against and 172 in favor of Feijoo’s candidacy.

Feijoo had one less vote this time, as the vote of an MP from the separatist Together for Catalonia (JxCat) party was declared invalid.

The PP was the party with the most votes in the July 23 elections, and King Felipe VI of Spain nominated Feijão as a candidate for prime minister, with the investiture to be voted on and approved by the Congress of Deputies.
