This Friday, the Finance Minister expressed satisfaction that Portugal has achieved the best risk assessment of Portuguese sovereign debt in 12 years, given that the assessments of financial rating agencies confirm the importance of the government’s strategy.
In a statement issued minutes after Fitch announced it was upgrading Portugal’s rating from ‘BBB+’ to ‘A-‘ (with a stable outlook), Finance Minister Fernando Medina defended “a string of positive assessments from rating agencies confirm the relevance of debt reduction strategy promoted by the government to protect the economy.”
“Portugal has achieved the best risk assessment of its public debt in 12 years,” he said.
