Operation Christmas and New Year 2022 by GNR continues until January 2nd.

The National Republican Guard (NRG) is conducting Operation Christmas and New Year 2022 until January 2, which will focus on traffic accidents and the fight against crime, namely thefts in homes and businesses.

“The National Republican Guard (NR) is launching Operation Christmas and New Year 2022 from this Monday until January 2, 2023 to fight crime and increase traffic patrols on the roads. An increase in traffic during this period to ensure holidays and safe movement throughout the country,” the police said in a statement.

The NDP will strengthen law enforcement in areas with high traffic when leaving for celebrations, “and also adopt prevention and public awareness mechanisms to prevent thefts in homes and institutions during the absence of people at their homes, through the prudent use of available funds to ensure a greater capacity for intervention,” placing several valences and divisions on the ground for this purpose.

Taking into account the tasks set, the PRT advises citizens moving from their usual place of residence to other places to celebrate Christmas and New Year, inform the police authorities of their area of residence so that patrols can be programmed, as well as checking the functioning of the alarm system, if any, and proper closing of doors and windows, among other things.

In terms of Highway Patrol, the GNR divides the operation into “two periods of effort”, the first corresponding to Christmas between December 22 and 26, and the second corresponding to the New Year between December 29 and January 2.

“The Guard will be especially alert to risky driver behavior, namely speeding, dangerous maneuvers, proper signaling and overtaking maneuvers, changing direction and giving way, improper use of a mobile phone, driving correctly in the rightmost lane on motorways and main and additional routes, as well as improper or non-use of seat belts and/or child restraint systems.

GNR encourages drivers to plan their journey, take rest breaks, adapt their speed to weather, road conditions and traffic, and avoid dangerous manoeuvres.
