Biweekly parliamentary debates will resume on October 18. According to Socialist MP Palmira Maciel, who this Wednesday provided journalists with information about the meeting of the leaders of the countries, preparatory debates in the European Council will take place on the same day.
Prime Minister António Costa will meet with MPs after the presentation of the state budget, which is scheduled for the 10th. Debates on public accounts usually begin on the 30th/31st.
The return of the two-week debate with the Prime Minister was scheduled for September 27, but had to be postponed due to Chega introducing a motion of no confidence in the government, and the new Standing Orders of the Assembly of the Republic, approved in July, stipulate that debates with the chief executive in parliament cannot be held “within two weeks after the discussion of a vote of confidence or a vote of censure.”
