The government has reviewed the proposal to increase the civil service and is now forecasting an increase of €52, but by a minimum of 3% instead of the originally announced 2%.
Details of the offer have not been disclosed, but the previous offer already provided, at €52, a 3% increase for those earning up to €1,754. This means that the new proposal should strengthen the salary increase from the salary level corresponding to 1,807 euros.
According to the United Front coordinator, the government has no influence on reducing wages. The proposal, initially presented by the government to trade unions last week, included an increase in the general government remuneration base from the current €769.2 gross per month to €821.83, an increase of 6.8%.
Base changes will always involve an increase in the minimum wage, since the government’s compensation base cannot be lower. On the negotiating table at the social consultation is a 7.9% increase in the minimum wage to €820 in January, as Negosios explains in Friday’s release.
However, unions expect the government to maintain a distance between the minimum wage and the wage base, which is currently around 9 euros.
