The government concluded negotiations with public administration trade unions this Wednesday, maintaining a proposal to increase wages by at least 3% next year, said the president of the State Technical Staff Union (STE).
Helena Rodríguez made statements before Lusa following an additional meeting with the Minister of Public Administration Inés Ramírez, held at the request of the trade union structures, on the negotiations on the annual salary and other measures of the state budget for 2024 (OE2024), presented on Tuesday to Parliament.
“There was nothing new, the government did not fulfill the intention of the front led by UNTE, the renewal was never less than 5%, it retained the original 3%, although this 3%, in fact, is different from what was in the agreement, which provided for 2% “, said the union leader, adding that the value, however, is “insufficient.”
Helena Rodriguez stressed that there are “other important issues that are under consideration” and that STE values, such as the review of the performance assessment system (SIADAP) and the “possibility of earlier entry into force,” are in 2025 rather than 2026.
In addition to the SIADAP review, Helena Rodriguez noted that there is “an opportunity, along with other careers, to redefine the senior technician career in 2024.”
“We continue to value the negotiation process and the conclusion of the agreement that we entered into last year, and based on this agreement we will be able to conduct career reviews and the SIADAP review,” the STE President emphasized.
The government’s proposal calls for a wage increase of around €52 for a basic salary of around €1,700 and by 3% for higher salaries (resulting in a larger increase for higher salaries).
The remuneration base for civil servants increases from 769.20 euros to 821.8 euros.
The pay rise for civil servants next year will cost €847 million and cover around 746,000 civil servants, according to the Ministry of Finance.
The total cost of salary increases, including raises, promotions, promotions and career reviews, will be €1,538 in 2024.
