The IMT exemption threshold for home purchases increases to EUR 101,907

In the 2024 State Budget proposal (OE2024), the various levels for IMT purposes are updated by approximately 5%, with the exemption threshold (for the acquisition of own and permanent housing) increasing to €101,917.

The Municipal IMT includes several value categories that are subject to different rates when ownership is exchanged – for example, by purchase, exchange or inheritance.

Therefore, the first step limit (at which the exemption applies or a 1% rate applies depending on whether it is a permanent home or a second home) increases from the current €97,064 to almost €102 thousand per year. January.

At the following levels, the limits on the application of the relevant rates also increase: to 149,412 in the second (where the marginal rate is 2%), to 190,086 in the third (the marginal rate of 5%), to 316,772 euros in the fourth (the marginal rate of 7%) and to 633,453 euros, in the fifth (cap rate 8%).

The IMT also includes the application of a flat rate of 6% for properties whose value ranges from €633,453 to €1,102,920, and 7.5% when it exceeds €1,102,920 (values ​​valid from January 2024 with entry into force OE).

BMI levels were updated in 2011 and remained frozen until 2022, the year they began to be updated again.
