A 14-year-old boy was killed and his 53-year-old father was seriously injured when the motorcycle they were both riding collided with a car this Sunday evening on the EN205 highway in Painsel, Cabeceiras de Basto. The 72-year-old driver of the car suffered minor injuries.
The alarm about the incident in Ranya, a few tens of meters from the house of the deceased victim, was raised around 19:30. The victims were rescued by Cabecirense firefighters, as well as the immediate life support (SIV) team from Fafe and the ambulance and resuscitation (VMER) from Guimarães.
The slightly injured man was hospitalized shortly after the ambulance arrived. Two passengers on the motorcycle were in very serious condition, the minor died on the spot.
The causes of the accident are being investigated. Officers from the GNR Criminal Investigation Center for Road Traffic Accidents (NICAV) conducted an investigation at the scene.
