The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, announced a government decree on the creation of a new social game “Eurosorteio”, but warned that the problem of player addiction should lead to a decrease in the supply of bets of this type.
In a note published this Thursday on his official Internet portal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa justifies the publication with the fact that the proceeds from the new game Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa are intended “primarily for social purposes”, which “must also be directed for the treatment and prevention of addictive behavior.”
“Despite the recently noted problem of adding to the game, which should usually lead to less rather than more supply, as well as past experience where new games caused the downfall of previous ones, but also taking into account primarily the social goals of the revenues collected by Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Lisbon, which should also be aimed at the treatment and prevention of addictive behavior, the President of the Republic unveiled a government diploma that creates a state social game called “Eurosorteio” and authorizes Santa Casa da Misericórdia from Lisbon to begin related exploration on an exclusive basis for the entire national territory,” says the note from the Palacio de Belém.
