Transgender woman who stabbed her parents to death in Zamora Correia sentenced to 25 years in prison

Tania Ferrigno, a transgender woman who attacked her parents last October in Zamora Correia, Santarem, was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The woman was charged with qualified murder in the death of her father and attempted murder in the brutal attack on her mother.

On October 10, 42-year-old Tanya armed herself with a knife and began attacking her father, who fled into the building’s lobby but was stabbed nine times before he fell. An elderly man, 77 years old, died in December in the Vila Franca de Xira hospital.

Tanya then went to the room where her mother was bedridden and stabbed her seven times in the chest and face before neighbors, alerted by screams, intervened. The elderly woman, also 77 years old, managed to survive the bloodshed but died in mid-January.
