Amber Heard settles libel case against Johnny Depp

Actress Amber Heard announced this Monday that she has reached an agreement with her ex-husband, actor Johnny Depp, to whom she will pay one million euros, and that she will not file an appeal after losing a libel suit last June. Hurd said he “lost faith in the American legal system”.

The announcement was made via a post on the social media platform Instagram, in which the actress explained that she made the decision after “long deliberation” and that “she never chose what happened.” “I stood up for my truth, and in doing so, my life was destroyed,” he added.

The decision came about a month after Heard said he would appeal the libel conviction against Depp. After a six-week trial in which the ex-spouses sued each other for defamation, Heard was ordered to pay ten million euros to Depp, and the actor – about two million euros to his ex-wife.

The long legal battle has already become one of the most high-profile cases in Hollywood and now ends with an agreement between the couple’s lawyers that Heard’s insurance company should pay Depp one million euros.

The actors were married between 2015 and 2017, and Depp sued Heard after publishing an article written by the actress in a North American newspaper. washington postthat he was allegedly a victim of domestic violence.

“Now I finally have the opportunity to free myself from what I have been trying to get away from for over six years, and on terms that I can agree to,” the actress wrote in the publication. The head concluded the statement by emphasizing that the ruling is not an admission of guilt.
