This Friday, the Minister of Territorial Unity approved contracts for the replacement of municipal equipment and infrastructure in 14 municipalities of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo affected by the floods of December 2022 and January 2023.
According to Ana Abrunhos, the total damage to municipal infrastructure amounted to about 97 million euros throughout the country, with 48.7 million euros in the Lisbon area, representing a support of about 22 million euros.
Ana Abrunhosa assured that the government intends to transfer 60% of this amount to the municipalities as soon as the contracts are published in the Diário da República, taking into account that some of these municipalities have already completed the work and incurred the costs of replacing damaged equipment. .
The minister emphasized that in addition to this municipal equipment and infrastructure, companies that had already been provided with support and advance payments also suffered losses.
In these cases, the amount did not reach €700,000 “as most companies, small businesses and services had insurance or received support from local authorities” and the cost of this support was deducted from the total damages.
Contracts for the support of flood-damaged infrastructure were approved in the municipalities of Almada and Seixal (District of Setúbal), Amadora, Arruda dos Vinhos, Benavente, Lisbon, Loures, Odivelas, Oeiras, Sintra and Vila Franca de Xira (District of Lisbon ) and Masao. , Rio Mayor and Vila Nova da Barquinha (Santarem district).
