José Maria Riccardi, cousin of Ricardo Salgado, did not doubt the testimony he gave this Friday in the EDP trial: “Ricardo Salgado told me personally that he intervened in the transition of Manuel Piño to the government,” adding that “Salgado carried out time in Sao Bento.” Ricciardi continued: “I think that Jose Socrates, having a close relationship with Ricardo Salgado, remembered that he had an extremely qualified person and that he was in a certain sense not being used. Later I found out that [Manuel Pinho] I had already developed work with PS elements.”
There were moments of tension between former BESI president and lawyer Ricardo Salgado when Francisco Proenza de Carvalho was considering paying performance bonuses. Manuel Pinho also wanted to intervene, saying that “there is not the slightest proof presented here of the relationship between José Sócrates and Ricardo Salgado.”
