Muslim NGO from Mozambique rejects human rights abuses in Gaza Strip

Humanitarian non-governmental organization (NGO) Mohammedan Community of Mozambique has rejected violations of human rights and humanitarian law in the Gaza Strip, advocating the resumption of negotiations for peace in the Middle East.

“The world cannot and must not remain blind to the facts that characterize the current situation, which is contrary to human rights and humanitarian law in the Gaza Strip, at the risk of history condemning us collectively,” the organization said in a statement.

The Mohammedan community argues that the world must ensure that the people of the Gaza Strip have access to humanitarian aid and blocking essential aid to those who need it is incomprehensible.

The organization “notes with concern the signs of total disrespect and disregard for the basic principles of human existence: the right and respect to life.”

The Muslim religion is one of the most pronounced in Mozambique, especially in the northern region of the country.

The Islamist group Hamas launched a surprise attack on southern Israel on October 7, firing thousands of rockets and invading armed militias, taking two hundred hostages.

In response, Israel declared war on Hamas, the movement that has controlled the Gaza Strip since 2007 and which the European Union and the United States classify as terrorist, bombing several of the group’s infrastructure in the Gaza Strip and imposing a complete blockade of the area, cutting off water, fuel and electricity.

The conflict has already caused the death and injury of thousands of military personnel and civilians in both territories.
