On the sidelines of a meeting on housing in Braga, Mariana Mortagua stressed that “the climate emergency exists and it is truly an emergency” and that it is necessary to draw attention “to such an important issue that will affect everyone’s lives so much.”
“The world needs a great transformative movement like the one created a few years ago around the figure of Greta Thunberg (…). The question arises: Do these types of actions contribute to the creation of this great transformative movement? “This is a great social movement that puts these issues at the center of public debate. I have great doubts that it promotes this attitude,” he added.
Finance Minister Fernando Medina was attacked with green paint by an environmental activist on Friday during a public class at the University of Lisbon’s Faculty of Law auditorium.
Previously, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Duarte Cordeiro was the target of similar actions.
