The attacker, who already had a criminal record, was serving a sentence for a previous conviction, including for domestic violence, which was suspended.
According to the department, the man used psychological pressure, threats and physical attacks on the victim. After his arrest, the attacker spent the night in the dungeons of the State Police, and then attended his first interrogation in the Tomar court. Taking into account the collected evidence and testimony, the investigating judge decided that the attacker would await trial in pre-trial detention. The man is being held in Leiria prison.
