A GNR soldier from Sines Post suffered injuries to his right arm and knee while arresting a 19-year-old man on Monday 23 October.
The arrest followed a drug arrest when the man in question refused to provide identification requested by National Republican Guard (NR) soldiers and fled on foot.
After the chase, the suspect was handcuffed by troopers who attempted to take him to the GNR vehicle.
The suspect tried to resist arrest and kicked one of the soldiers.
The law enforcement officer suffered abrasions on his right arm and knees and was taken to the Alentejuno Litoral Hospital as a precaution, where he has since been released.
Ultimately, the man was arrested and taken to the Judicial Court of Santiago do Cacem, where he was subject to a coercive measure of identification and residence.
