The Socialist Party said this Wednesday that Chega “wants to polarize the situation” by calling for the resignation of António Guterres as secretary general of the United Nations.
MP Francisco Cesar emphasizes the party’s “total solidarity” with António Guterres, arguing that he was “misinterpreted” in statements in which he said that “it is also important to recognize that Hamas attacks did not occur in a vacuum.”
Let us recall that after these statements, Israel demanded the “immediate dismissal” of António Guterres.
According to Francisco Cesar, condemnation of the “barbaric terrorist acts” of the Islamic group Hamas in Israel does not interfere with “the call for peace and a ceasefire.”
“Even in war you have to follow the rules,” he notes.
