The Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, Ana Mendes Godinho, said this Friday in Parliament that about 70% of pensions are granted automatically through the Pensão na Hora mechanism.
“The local pension already reaches 70% of the assigned pensions,” the minister said during a hearing in the Budget and Finance Committees, as well as the Labour, Social Security and Inclusion Committees as part of the overall assessment of the state’s budget proposal. for 2024 (OE2024).
According to a hearing document prepared by the ministry, the number of pensions granted through this automatic mechanism, launched in 2021, now stands at 83 thousand.
According to data provided by Lusa from the Institute of Social Security (ISS), from January to September 2023, 38 thousand old-age pensions were awarded through the Pensão na Hora mechanism, an increase of 46% compared to the same period last year.
Pensão na Hora allows you to nominate a provisional pension within 24 hours until the final pension becomes available.
At the hearing, Ana Mendes Godinho assured MPs that “pensioners will see a recovery in purchasing power” next year, with an expected update of 6.2% for pensions to €1,020.44, from 5.8% for pensions between this last value. and 3061.32 euros and 5.2% for higher pensions.
Proposal OE2024 will be debated in Parliament on October 30 and 31, with a final global vote scheduled for November 29.
