Sporting beat Farense 4-2 this Thursday in the second round of Group C of the Football League Cup, moving closer to securing their presence in the final four of the tournament.
Swedish striker Victor Gyökeres stole the show with a hat-trick for the previous runners-up Lions, scoring in the 24th, 28th, this time from the penalty spot, and in the 63rd minute with goals. Nuno Santos scored the Green-Whites’ second goal, while Matthaeus Oliveira, 49, and Vitor Goncalves, 79, scored for Farense.
With this victory, Sporting lead the group with three points from one game, followed by Farense, also with three points, but one game more, while Tondela, a team from the II League, is in third and last position, without having points. ..and with one game.
